"I found your site by searching "animal cruelty" looking for some information about a greyhound cruelty case in Florida (there were so many that I am still wading through them trying to find the particular one that I am searching for). I have in my home a greyhound who came from a cruelty case in Mississippi. The bitch and her pups, the victims of an "accidental" breeding after testosterone was outlawed several years ago, were set on fire and run over on a rural road. The bitch and two pups escaped with minor injuries (I guess the idiot couldn't drive well enough to run them ALL over). Someone adopted the bitch and a lady adopted two of the surviving pups. A third was found, horribly burned, but barely alive. Thanks to a greyhound volunteer (an angel, she is), that little pup was picked up and taken for medical care. She also had a broken scapula and fractured vertebrae, along with the 2nd and 3rd-degree burns all down her right side. I drove the thousand miles to take her, as no one else wanted her. After our long drive to pick her up was over, my fiance asked "Is she going to live?" She is now 5 years old, healed and happy. The asshole kennel worker who did this was never found or prosecuted. No abuse in racing kennels??? Give me a break! These mouthy racing advocates who say that "99%" of racing advocates need to put their money where their big lying mouths are and DO SOMETHING TO GET RID OF THE SCUM who abuse and kill racing greyhounds! They are all talk and no walk! Trust me, I HAVE been to many kennels in my 9 years of greyhound RESCUE and adoption. Hear that??? RESCUE. It means "greyounds that are in DANGER". DUH! I have seen tick and flea-infested greyhounds, MANY broken legs in greyhounds, greyhounds with tick diseases, perfectly healthy greyhounds on KILL trucks (got one of my own right off a kill truck). I have had thoughts about putting together a really good website that exposes greyhound racing for what it really is, and the facts to back it up. But your site is just more than I could wish for. Keep up the good work! THANK YOU from the greyhounds, and from all the dedicated greyhound RESCUE and adoption volunteers. We need more people like you!!! I hope that we can see greyhound racing end. Hopefully in my lifetime. RACING INDUSTRY.......... PUT UP OR SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!! Quit making excuses for the ""1%" who KILL those 20,000 greyhounds a year!!"

"I took a moment to read through many of your email responses. First of all, I agree, What is with all the tree stuff? Is that some sort of round about reference to dogs (dogs, trees, marking??? get it?) Who knows. Second, it amazes me that there are people out there that can SEE for themselves the pictures of greyhounds who have been abused and starved. The message from the new "spokesperson for dog racing enthusiasts everywhere" is going on about communism, gays, kids, horror flicks (which are fiction by the way mister), horse racing (which I am against as well), and even car racing. IF that person happens to see this message, Car Racing consists of men and women who CHOOSE to race. No one forces them into the industry, they are not starved, beaten, forced to live in ungodly conditions, fed crap, and abused. If they get injured, they are completely aware that this can happen when they go into the business, and take that risk on their own volition. Personally, I am not a fan of any racing sports. Also, it seems to me that these people should learn to SPELL before they speak about which they know nothing, at least then we might be able to understand their ignorance fully and completely, instead of trying to guess what their pig latin english is actually saying. Overall, I applaud your site for the information it is trying to provide to the public. I myself am in the process of trying to create a Public Service Announcement for my video class about greyhound racing and its abuses. I hope to donate the finished work to any of the organizations who want to use it either for TV, Web or any other purpose, at least locally. "I think your website is completely one-sided. I have worked on a greyhound farm my whole life, and have never cared for a dog that wasn't completely healthy and happy to the best of our efforts. None of our dogs have ever been hungry- we feed them as much as their bodies need without overfeeding them- which would be cruelty itself. The dogs are naturally slender animals and I think what you are calling a starved animal is actually the dogs natural physique. As with any industry, there are problems. I'm sure there are some farms where the animals are mistreated, and frankly, I think these farms should be shut down, but for you to argue that the entire industry is this way is completely arrogant. If you were sincerely concerned with the treatment of these wonderful animals, you would tell both sides of the story and promote the good while discouraging the bad."

I have been in the indusrty for 17 years now and my husband 25 You distort the truth to make it look how you want it to appear. How many kennels have any of you been in? The majority of us are good hard working family people who love our dogs. For one doping dogs??? Fixed races You had to find an article from out of the country to come up with that one didn't you? In the US we have urine samples taken from the dogs to insure that it is legitemate. You have testimony from leadouts who say from thier own mouths "most of the cruelty they have seen is from the leadout" Then why didn't your dog loving leadout turn them in to the trainer of the dog or the racing department? I know for a fact any trainer woth thier salt would demand firing of a leadout for that and any racing department would do it.

You come up with one or two remote incedences and lump the whole industry together. I assure you if you studied your fact before making these bold factless statements you would find that 99% of us are good people and we do not support the 1% who are not. I am sure you will not post this letter on your site as it might change the views of some of your readers and we wouldn't want any one to see both sides of the coin now would we? I was directed to your site by someone else who was appauled by your outright lies. I own a greyhound pet and train the at a racetrack our dogs are our family and our livelyhood why would we want to not treat them as such? It is far from cruel to run an animal who was "born and bred to run" Do you think if you let your pet out in an open field he would just stand there? Do you think the pups in the runs lay down all day or do you think thier owners go out there and beat them and chase them around to get them to do it??

No they run because it is instinct "that God instilled in them" Instead of condemning a whole group of people for the actions of few,why don't you do something constructive and work with us to make it better? I personally have offered different AR groups to come to my kennel when they were picketing at the track to see what it was really about and was always turned down by them saying" I am an exception to a rule" if I offer to let them come to my kennel .Well people there are alot of us out there who treat our dogs with respect and care.We also unlike you have seen first hand how much these dogs love to run and what an awesome sight and a thing of beauty it can be.I could go on and on as this is my livelyhood you are trying to destry but I will refrain.Just wish I knew what all you do for a living so I could pick it to shreds like you do to us/I am sure I could find some skeletons in every professions closet if I look hard enough and if I was like you I woulod run around and banter about the bad people in your line of work and never find a good thing to say about the good one."
